Mark A. Yates, O.D.

Dr. Mark Yates joined Illinois Eye Specialists’ Maryville office (now affiliated with SureVision Eye Centers - Midwest) in 1997 with more than eight years of professional optometric experience. In addition to patient care, Dr. Yates is licensed to prescribe medications and is experienced in fitting contact lenses and eyeglasses. He also has treated cataract and refractive surgery patients prior to and following their surgical procedures.

Dr. Yates earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Missouri – St. Louis and later his Doctor of Optometry degree from the university’s School of Optometry. He completed internships with the State University of New York School of Optometry, Veterans Administration Hospital Eye Clinic in Kansas City, University of Missouri – St. Louis School of Optometry Eye Clinic, and a private practice in the eastern metropolitan area of St. Louis.

His internship experience included primary care optometry, vision therapy, developmental vision disorders, diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma, medical co-management with ophthalmologists, fitting contact lenses and low vision conditions. Dr. Yates served as a liaison to the Optometric Extension Program while attending the University of Missouri – St. Louis School of Optometry.

He is an active member of the American Optometric Association, Missouri Optometric Association and Illinois Optometric Association. Dr. Yates also is a member and has served on the Board of Directors of the Edwardsville Lions Club.
